Reading at Ivanhoe
Reading is an extremely important life skill. Children who read regularly, or who are read to regularly, have the opportunity to open the doors to so many different worlds!
More importantly, reading gives children many skills that enable them to become independent, life-long learners.
At Ivanhoe we teach early reading through the Read, Write Inc phonics programme. We also teach reading skills through guided reading, individual reading and in comprehension sessions in each year group.
We strongly encourage parents to read daily at home to your children to help them develop their reading skills.
At Ivanhoe we use Read Write Inc. Phonics (RWI) to give your child the best possible start with their literacy. See below for guidance on how the RWI programme works together with some useful links. Mrs Pendlebury is the Reading Leader, so if you have any questions about RWI, contact school who can refer you to her.
For more information about Read Write Inc, our Reading at Ivanhoe document is available to download.
Remote Learning
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home. It will also detail what to expect where individual pupils are self-isolating.
For all you need to know about Remote Learning at Ivanhoe Primary Academy, download our Remote Learning document.
