Penguins - Year 1A - Mrs Smith

Welcome to Perfect Penguins!

Hello everyone and welcome to Year 1 Penguin Class. Your teachers in Penguin class will be Mrs Smith, Miss Jones, Miss Moseley and Mrs Scott.

We know that the start to this year is different to that of previous years but we hope that your time in Penguins class will be fun and informative. You will be able to follow our learning journey and achievements through the class dojo page.

A few reminders are below to hopefully help you settle into Year 1. As always, get in touch if there is anything we can help with.

PE : Our PE day will be Friday so please ensure that your child has a PE kit on this day. It would be wise to have both an indoor (pumps, t-shirt, shorts/leggings) and outdoor PE kit (joggers, leggings, zip up jacket, trainers). We would suggest sending your child with their kit each and leaving this in school should it be needed at other times.

Reading : We continue to encourage regular reading at home. Please record any reading that you complete at home and this can be from a range of sources. Remember, the more you read, the more rewards you can receive. Reading books should be in school every day and Wednesday will be the day when books are changed.

Homework : Homework will continue to be handed out on a Friday and is to be returned by the following Friday. Homework content will always reflect what your child has learnt that week so that all children are able to complete the tasks. We encourage homework to be completed and supported at home.

Snack Break : From September, your child will no longer receive a biscuit during snack break however fruit will be available. If you would like to provide your child with fruit from home, this is also fine. Please can you make sure that this is placed on the snack tray as they enter the classroom. Please also ensure you child has a water bottle in school every day with water only. Extra water should be provided on P.E days as we no longer have the facility to fill water bottles up at the current time. If you would like your child to receive milk, this can be arranged through the usual method.
