Sports Week – June 13th 2011

Sports Week was so brilliant last year and so many children and parents wanted us to repeat the experience that we have decided to have another week completely dedicated to sport and to healthy living. This week it will be in the week beginning June 13th to give us a good chance of lovely weather. Although the idea of sports week is not, not, not to be competitive, rather to try different sports for fun, we will be holding a sports afternoon in that week for children in KS1 and KS2 when parents will be invited to attend. We will also be doing a sponsored walk in the same week as they are so popular in school.

It is very important at Ivanhoe that we hear the voice of children (and we always ask children for their opinion) so please use the blog to tell us what sports you would like to try out in school. We will do our best to make sure that you get the opportunity to have the sports and activities that you would like to do.

So get blogging, Sports Week is five weeks away and we want it to be brilliant. What would you like to do?

  1. hi mr brian i will like to do dance and swimming by milly -jo louise armstrong. 🙂 x

  2. I feel it would be beneficial for the children to have a go at Yoga. It is an excellent way to improve childrens concentration, relaxation and overall well being. I know an excellent teacher who has more than 20 years exeprience who lives in the community. I practice Yoga with my son and he really enjoys it! I think sports week would be an excellent time to give the children a taster to it. I would be more than happy to help out on any sessions in sports week, and can pass on my Yoga instructors details to you.

  3. Thanks, Rachel – a great idea – and as you know, we have now arranged it!! Thanks for the ideas from everyone – we have bowling, basketball, dancemats, yoga, circus skills, gymnastics and trampolining all organised. We shall let people know the timetables after half-term!
