A Brave New Term…

I am writing this a week or so before children come back to Ivanhoe (they come back at 8.40 am on Thursday 4th September…) just to explain what we are up to and to ask children what they are looking forward to in 2014/15.

There are lots of changes at school; we have made the small classroom at the junior end MUCH bigger so that a class of 12 can fit in there comfortably, and Mrs Kidd and Miss Gathercole will be teaching the Y3 side by side in two adjoining classrooms. We have been reorganising the kitchen and the dining area so that when the universal infant free school meals kick in in September we shall manage with cooking for over 200 children!

I have been asked to become executive headteacher at Balby Street Primary which means that Ivanhoe and Balby Street will be working very closely together to help give even more children the chance to get an outstanding education. I will still be headteacher at Ivanhoe as well but I will be moving between the two schools helping to make them both run smoothly.

There are lots of exciting things to look forward to in the autumn term and I hope that children are excited about coming back to school. I would like everyone to tell me what they have been up to over the summer; I have spent a lot of the time in both schools, but I found time to go to Norfolk for a few days, and I went to London with Eve where we saw ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ (twice!) and we visited the Imperial War Museum…Eve was in Y3 when I was appointed to Ivanhoe and now she is about to go into the 6th form to study ‘A’ levels!

So let me know what you have been up to – did you go away? And let me know what you are looking forward to in the months to come 🙂
