Academy Logo!

I am quite excited as I write this, as I think that this might be our most exciting blog ever! When we become Conisbrough Ivanhoe Primary Academy in January 2012, we will be having a new logo on our school uniform and on our letterheads and other official documents. We asked children and grown ups to draw a new logo and we had about a hundred entries. Children made a shortlist of twenty and then staff reduced that shortlist to nine. After that, they were sent to Kathryn Johnson who is a design consultant who turned the drawings into a form that could be stitched onto a garment or downloaded onto a letterhead. Now we want everyone to make their choice…

The designs are numbered so we want children, adults and friends of the school to blog their choice. We would like people briefly to say why they like their choice, not just to choose a number. We would like people just to vote once! The voting will end at 3.15pm on Friday 4th November and then the winner will be announced. One blogger will win a shirt with the logo on (we will put all bloggers in a basket and draw one out) and the person who created the logo will also win a shirt and a £20 Meadowhall gift voucher. This is a very exciting opportunity – I hope that everyone will have a vote!

Harvest Festival…

We are going to have Harvest festival on Friday 14th October. I think that everyone knows that the point of the occasion is to celebrate all the good things that we have to eat and to thank God for all that we have. Harvest Festival, like Christmas, is also a time for giving, and most children bring something in for the display which can then be sold for charity. At Conisbrough Ivanhoe we take all the gifts down to St Peter’s Church and sell them to the people of Conisbrough on the Saturday following our celebration ( October 15th) and then we give the money to charity.

What will you be bringing to the display? Do you think Harvest Festival is important? Do you enjoy it? And will you come down to see us at St Peter’s on Saturday morning?
